Al Faleh Educational Holding Q.P.S.C. hosts Sheikh Faleh Bin Nasser Al Thani 18th Annual Quran Competition 2023
The AL Faleh Educational Holding Q.P.S.C. hosted the Sheikh Faleh Bin Nasser Al Thani -may God have mercy on him- the 18th Annual Quran Competition as part of its efforts at the level of all schools in the state of Qatar, where Dr. Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani, Founder and Chairperson sponsored the competition, and met with the organizing committee of the competition and laid the foundations and rules governing the conduct of the competition.
The competition was launched on 30 April 2023 and ended on 26 May 2023 with a major ceremony at Doha Academy’s Al Waab branch.
Competition preparations began in February 2023, with invitations sent to all schools operating in Qatar through electronic addresses. Invitations described the competition system, the number of categories, the value of the material prizes, and the conditions and mechanism for participating in the competition.
The competition was divided into two sections as usual, each with its own terms and awards. The first section of the competition is for students from Doha Academy Kindergarten to Secondary School, and the second section is for all schools in Qatar. Two phases of testing were conducted on the campus of the Doha Academy.
The first phase included 175 schools from all types of schools in Qatar, including independent schools, community schools, international schools, kindergartens, and branches of the Doha Academy. The competition had a total of 529 participants.
Throughout the competition, Dr. Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani has closely followed the process and ensured all requirements were met.
Among the jurors was Sheikh Abdul Salam Qandeel, an imam and preacher at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar, who received high readings from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. In addition, he has served as an arbitrator in many international competitions. The general supervisor and organizer of the competition was Sheikh Yousri Elsaka, the coordinator of the sharia sciences at Doha Academy.
Dr. Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani hosted the final ceremony at the Academy’s headquarter in Al Waab on Friday, 26 May and invited all eligible persons, their relatives, and school coordinators to attend.
A total of 60 in-kind awards and 30 financial awards were given out this year. Doha Academy Schools’ section of the competition gave out financial prizes to 15 students and in-kind prizes to 30 students. The other schools section of the competition gave out financial prizes to 15 students and in-kind prizes to 30 students.
Doha Academy’s Principal Mr. Edward Cooper speaking of importance of organizing of such kind competition stated, “Congratulations to all of the students who took part this year, and great thanks also to their teachers for their support. Events such as these that bring schools together to promote Islamic values are extremely rewarding. The recitation skills of the students who participated astounded me in terms of knowledge and beauty. I’d like to extend my thanks to the event organiser Sheikh Yousri Elsaka for leading on this event. We definitely want to increase the number of cross-school competitions that Doha Academy initiates in 2023/24.”
Dr. Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani’s representative distributed the prizes to the winners at the, along with the jury and the Principal.
Supervisors, participants, and parents all praised the school and Sheikha Aisha’s hospitality for welcoming them to such an event and for the effort they put into organizing and preparing it.
