Our vision at Doha Academy, as a school of international learners, is to strive for excellence and to recognise the importance of a rounded, holistic education. This includes developing a the physical, emotional and social well-being of our learners
Our mission, is to provide opportunities for learners to develop their talents and interests, beyond the taught curriculum. A well planned, organised and delivered ECA programme consequently plays an essential role, in achieving a balanced curriculum which has both depth and importance for our children.
The objectives of the ECA programme are to:
- Provide opportunities for children to work together, both in teams and independently and gain an appreciation of the activities that they can pursue out of school and through-out their lives.
- Provide opportunities for learners to develop new skills, their own unique talents and competencies.
- Promote a positive attitude and help pupils develop their patience, self-discipline and resilience.
- Ensure that a comprehensive programme of ECA is offered.
- Ensure that all ECAs are planned and are age appropriate.
- Provide children with the opportunity develop their inter-personal skills, forge new friendships and to foster good relationships.
Trips
Some trips are organised as part of the course to be followed in a subject area and as such may be compulsory. Other outings and trips are additional to the curriculum and are not deemed a core activity.
A great deal of educational benefit can be gained from participating in school trips. Such activities give students the opportunity to engage in experiences not available in the classroom, help develop a student’s imaginative skills, encourage greater independence and enhance the student’s social and cultural development. Trips assist in bonding between students, as well as providing teachers with an opportunity to get to know students in a non-classroom environment.
Educational trips should:
- Extend and reinforce classroom activities
- Enhance the learning process of as many students as possible by providing educational experiences which the classroom alone cannot provide
- Support the curriculum content of some subjects through field trips, tours, outings or other recreational activities
- develop interpersonal skills of the students.
