Edward Cooper

Doha Academy Principal

Welcome to Doha Academy.

Founded 23 years ago, Doha Academy – as part of Al Faleh Educational Holding – has grown into a leader of KG to Year 13 education in Qatar. It is my honour to be entrusted by the Board of Directors with the role of Doha Academy Principal, overseeing the three schools within the group:

  • DA Al Waab (KG to Year 13);
  • DA Salwa (Year 1 – 9);
  • Doha International Kindergarten “DIKg” (KG – Reception).

Our collective aim is to continually review and improve our provision to meet the needs of our students today and tomorrow. Across our schools we provide a blended curriculum comprised of the National Curriculum for England, the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, and the Qatar National Curriculum. Post-18, our students have the fantastic opportunity to continue their education to Bachelor’s degree and Masters level at AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, also part of Al Faleh Educational Holding.

What makes Doha Academy particularly special is our understanding of both our national context and the wider world that awaits our students. Our school’s Vision & Mission articulates our aim to provide an outstanding, broad-based education that is deeply grounded in the principles and teachings of Islam.

Having successfully re-gained Qatar National Schools Accreditation (QNSA) at Al Waab and Salwa earlier this year, we are currently pursuing international accreditation with the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC). Benchmarking ourselves against both national and international standards is a crucial part of Doha Academy’s ongoing journey to grow and develop through the cycle of evaluation, planning and action.

Just as we expect our students to read, reflect and seek knowledge, so too do we expect this of our staff and school as a whole.

Each of our schools of course has its distinct character, informed by their size, location and the personalities within them. But they are unified by a relentless sense of purpose and commitment to our common goals.

I strongly encourage you to visit all of our schools to take a look for yourselves. You will always be warmly met. Likewise, if you have any questions about our provision, please do not hesitate to email us or give us a call

With best wishes,

Mr. Edward Cooper
