Global Village Day 2023 at Doha Academy

      • Posted by admin-jay
      • Date February 9, 2023

For a number of years now, one of the key highlights of the Doha Academy Girl’s Secondary Section, is the opportunity given to the girls to research and explore countries from around the world. This year the section was transformed into different countries ranging from Columbia, Chad, Croatia and Papua New Guinea to name just a few. Each form represented a different country and the girls had to research the food, cultural traditions and dress, as well as identify sustainability goals that they wanted the country to attain. The students decorated their classrooms, cooked traditional food, made costumes and performed a cultural activity. We saw everything from wedding ceremonies, to traditional dances and instrumental performances. Students illustrated key aspects of their designated country.

It was an extremely productive day filled with positive energy and smiling faces all around the school. The older Primary girls were invited to attend the event as well as teachers from other sections. The energy, hard work and effort knew no bounds and the learning outcomes were outstanding. The day culminated in a celebration assembly, awards for the best country and the best costume were announced.
